🌹 Feast of “Rosa Mystica - The Deeply Poetic and Revered Title of Mary - A Painting by Dino Carbetta” ...🌹 Is rooted in centuries of Marian devotion. This title is part of the Litany of Loreto, a traditional Catholic prayer invoking the Virgin Mary's intercession through a series of exalted names. The title "Mystical Rose" is notably associated with the Marian apparitions reported by Pierina Gilli in Montichiari and Fontanelle, Italy, between 1947 and 1966. The Biblical foundation for this title is found in the Song of Songs. Bishop Robert C. Morlino links this to Isaiah 11:1: "But a shoot shall sprout from the stump of Jesse, and from his roots, a bud shall blossom." John Henry Newman eloquently described Mary as the most beautiful flower in the spiritual realm, a bloom of holiness and glory amidst a barren earth, crowned as the Queen of spiritual flowers. Roses, long connected with Mary, carry profound symbolism: the red rose for love and the white rose for purity. In the fifth century, Coelius Sedulius referred to Mary as a "rose among thorns." The rose, often called the "queen of flowers," fittingly represents Mary as the Queen of Heaven. Bernard of Clairvaux poetically contrasted Eve and Mary, saying, "Eve was a thorn, wounding, bringing death to all; in Mary, we see a rose, soothing everybody's hurts, giving the destiny of salvation back to all." Gerard Manley Hopkins captured the essence of this title in his poem "Rosa Mystica" (c. 1874), with the lines "Mary the Virgin, well the heart knows, / She is the mystery, she is that rose." Even literary subversion, as seen in George Egerton's novel "Rosa Amorosa,’ retains its profound impact . “Rosa Mystica" beautifully encapsulates Mary's purity, love, and spiritual sovereignty. It invites the faithful to contemplate her hidden, mystical nature and her role as a conduit of divine grace, fostering a deeper connection with the divine through her.🌹 www.dinocarbetta.com🌹 #dinocarbetta.com #Italy #sacredart #RightToLife #MotherMary #religiousart #italia #italianlandscapes #catholicart #fineart #jesuschrist #virginmary #sacredheart #holyspirit #immaculata #immaculateheartofmary #immaculateheart #mysticalrose #catholic #blessedmother #rosary #sacredartandwellness #praytherosary #rosamistica #rosemystique

Wonderful connection made by Bishop Morlino to Isaiah 11:1 refers to the Blessed Mother. Thank you for sharing! May I ask did the Bishop speak about it or write about it somewhere? God bless.

You are invited to the lectureFreedom in Slavery. Status and agency in inscribed epigrams from the Greek East, 3rd cent BC - 3rd cent AD by Laurens E. Tacoma (Leiden University, Department of History) on April 3, 2024, at 18.30 at the Anamed Auditorium. Date: 3 April2024, WednesdayTime: 18.30- 20.00Location: ANAMED Auditorium, Istiklal Caddesi No 181, Merkez Han Beyoğlu, IstanbulHow did enslaved humans move through the confined space that was allotted to them? What were the boundaries of their agency? In this lecture, he will present some work from a book project co-authored with Rolf Tybout on the world of the Greek funerary epigrams from the Greek East in the Hellenistic and Roman period. Epigrams consist of short verse inscriptions. Hundreds of such commemorative poems survive from all over the Greek world, the majority dating to the Roman period. In the ancient world funerary texts were much more relational and communicative than nowadays: as people entered or left the city, they encountered along the road series of texts and monuments almost literally spoke to them and made claims about the deceased and commemorators. Funerary epigrams can therefore be read as a form of self-representation that take as their basis major life events of the individual that was commemorated; they offer patterned glimpses of the ways people constructed their world and positioned themselves in urban society. Although the use of versified texts was hardly confined to the local elites, they certainly displayed an upward bias. They depict a civic world in which commemorators demarcated the identity of the deceased through a display of cultural competence. Somewhat remarkably however, a number of these epigrams are made for and by slaves. In this lecture, Dr. Tacoma will discuss how the status ambiguities between slaves and masters were negotiated in the texts, and what that can tell us about the agency of the enslaved persons in the cities that dotted the Greek East.

Some prominent elements discussed by scholars of art in this famous Cimabue- the Byzantine theme of Ὁδηγήτρια - the Blessed Virgin Mary "pointing" to Her Son as the Divine Savior. This is combined with the Latin theme of Sedes Sapientia - the Virgin Mary as Enthroned Wisdom. Though Cimabue is chronologically close to the frontier of the Florentine Renaissance, most of the notable aspects of this painting strike one as more typically medieval in its symbolic rather than naturalistic space. The use of Gold Leaf to represent the sky (different from the blue of Giotto), shows the REPRESENTATION of the heavenly sphere is more important than trying to depict the sky as it is. The Christ Child is clearly adult-like and not at all like a real baby - perhaps to accent His place as the Eternal Word at the center of the cosmos and history. The use of perspective is limited. And the proportions are not at all lifelike, especially if we extend our eyes to the prophets of Israel below the throne of Mary.

Names that mean lost soul offer an intriguing symbolism. Some name options that convey this concept include:Aimery - Of German origin, this name derives from "Amaury" meaning "immortal," implying the eternal nature of a lost soul. Though no longer flesh and blood, the soul continues its spiritual journey after death.Daemon - This Greek name denotes a divine spirit or guiding deity. However, in some beliefs a daemon can symbolize a restless soul unable to fully depart the mortal realm. The named carries a poetic hint of mystery.Allister - With Scottish and Irish roots, this name translates as "defender of mankind," perhaps signifying a protector role the lost soul now adopts from beyond. Allister maintains an air of nobility in spite of its disembodied state.Asa - Originating from Norse mythology, this unisex name translates as "divine protection," suggesting the soul seeks shelter or asylum in the spiritual world. The association of red roses with love, passion, and romance dates back to ancient times and has been influenced by various cultural and historical factors. Here are a few reasons why red roses have become symbolic of these emotions:1. Mythology and Symbolism: In Greek and Roman mythology, red roses were associated with the goddess of love, Aphrodite (Venus), and the god of desire, Eros (Cupid). The red color of the roses was believed to represent the blood of the gods, symbolizing love and passion.2. Historical Significance: Red roses have been used as a symbol of romantic love in literature and art throughout history. They have been depicted in famous works like William Shakespeare's sonnets and paintings by renowned artists, further cementing their association with love and passion.3. Cultural Traditions: Over time, the tradition of giving red roses as a romantic gesture has been passed down through generations and across cultures. The act of presenting someone with a red rose is seen as an expression of deep love, desire, and affection.4. Visual Appeal: Red is a vibrant and eye-catching color that naturally evokes strong emotions. The beauty and elegance of red roses, combined with their captivating fragrance, make them a popular choice for expressing romantic feelings. These factors, along with the enduring popularity of red roses as a romantic gift, have contributed to their association with love, passion, and romance. 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹

The lord of Kashi is Mahadev. In Kashi, Mahadev is seated in the form of Vishwanath i.e. the lord of the world. If there is Avimukteshwar here, then there is also the continuity of Ma Ganga. After the completion of the construction of Kashi Corridor, the eyes of the whole world were on Kashi. There are as many stories as there are beliefs of Kashi Vishwanath. 🙏 Somewhere the story of the establishment of this Shivling is told by Shakti, and somewhere it is said to be established by Vishnu. Not only this, somewhere in the dream Baba’s vision and desire to settle in Kashi is also said. Kashi Vishwanath is the most popular name of Baba. Baba’s name in the scriptures is Vishwaswanath. It is believed that Vishweshwar Shivling is amazing among the Jyotirlingas. Avimukteshwar, Vishneshwar and Gyan Vapi have been mentioned in the Matsya Purana. This place is the abode of Shiva and Parvati. 🙏 That is why many people consider Avimukteshwar to be the first Shivling. Vishwanath ji is included in the Dwadash Jyotirlinga, its self-manifestation is also valid. According to a news website, historians of Kashi tell that Shivling has all three forms from the point of view of the universe. At the bottom three layers, the creation form i.e. Brahma, above it in the octagon, the position form i.e. Vishnu above it is the pind i.e. womb. After this Shivling i.e. Shiva. It has religious and spiritual significance. There are historians that Vishwanath is also described in the Van Parva of Mahabharata. At the same time, it is clear that the temple was damaged in the attack and rebuilt by Rani Ahilya Bai. But there are many things to be heard about Shivling. To save them from the attack, the priest was in the Gyanvapi well carrying Shivling. But its belief remained the same. Behind this is the fact that Queen Ahilyabai got the Shivling worshiped by worshiping 11 archakas symbolizing the 11 Rudras in a scriptural manner. Some people say about Narayan Bhatt as the chief archak, while some people tell his identity a secret. 🙏 On the other hand, Jitendranand Saraswati, General Secretary of Ganga Mahasabha says about Vishwanath Shivling that among all Jyotirlingas also Vishweshwarnath of Kashi is special because only Vishweshwarnath gives salvation. The same legend is found that their earliest description is under the name Avimukteshwar. That is, one who frees us from the cycle of birth and death. That is why Kashi is called the city of salvation. 🙏
