LoL: Riot Makes Important Change To Soul Fighter Samira Charity Action (2024)

The Soul Fighter Ultimate skin for Samira was a controversial topic in the last weeks, since many players had the feeling that the skins wasn't special enough to be called "ultimate". Shortly after that Riot Games reacted and changed and added graphical effects to the skin. But there were no changes of the skin's price tag.

Everyone that bought the skin supports a charity action by Riot Games, as the company announced to donate 20 % of the proceeds, generated by the skin.

Riot Game Changes Percentages for Charity Donation?

It's nothing new for Riot Games to be active for charity. Back in 2019 the company established their "Social Impact Fund" and a partnership with ImpactAssets to invest in charity organizations all over the world.

Ahead of now ongoing Soul Fighter Even, Riot Games announced that 20% percent of all proceedings, generated by the Soul Fighter Samira Skin and the event pass, will be donated to charity.

Shortly after the release of the skin, questions were coming up in the LoL community. The reason was that, when you opened the site of the skin through Samira's Character page it said that 100% will be donated.

Later Riot employee "RiotSakaar" stated, that this amount message was a mistake, and that players can choose to either get a refund or can request that the full amount will be donated.

For anyone that bought it while this typo was live and was under the impression that it would be 100% they're able to ticket in to either request a refund or request that 100% of the proceeds do in fact go towards the fund.

Will Riot Actually Honor Their Promise To Give 100% Of Soul Fighter Samira Profits To Charity?

To see whether Riot will honour their promise of giving 100% of the profit from Soul Fighter Samira to charity if players ask personally, one player has put it to the test by contacting Riot support.

I was curious if Riot would actually go through with honoring 100% of Soul Fighter Samira revenue to charity, so I messaged support about it and it seems like they will, but they didn't actually have a system in place yet.

The answer he got could be seen as positive sign towards the promise made by the company, even tho it was no clear statement in it. The answer, made by "Jokan" from the Riot Games Player Support reads,

Hey again Spideraxe, Thanks for letting me know that! We are still communicating with our team about honoring this for players, so it will take some more time to take care of this one. As soon as we have an update, I will let you know! I appreciate your patience and understanding while we figure things out.

It will be interesting to see, if Riot will go through with their made promise, of course we hope so, It's for charity after all. According to some community reactions and comments, a big portion of the player base hopes the same. Of course, we will keep you up to date.
